As someone who recently got into journaling and establishing a morning routine, I decided to invest in the 5-Minute Journal after seeing it on Instagram and Tik Tok. The daily journal has 5 prompts total for each day with 3 for the morning and 2 for the night. For the morning the prompts include spaces to write about 3 things you are grateful for, daily affirmations, and 3 things you think would make that day great. The nighttime activities include prompts for 3 amazing things that happened that day and a space to answer the question of what could have made that day better.
To be honest, at first I thought this might be a waste of money because I could just have my own journal and make my own prompts. After a few days, I realized that I liked having these pre-recorded prompts. I actually found myself more motivated to journal daily. It was more exciting to have a journal that was already planned out for you than to make your own prompts every day.
This journal helped me realize what I am grateful for. It made me slow down and think of the little things every day that I appreciate, whether it be my morning coffee or the leaves changing outside. This pause in my life allowed me to slow down and truly appreciate what is going on around me.
This journal also helped me establish daily goals, which made it a lot easier to get them done and felt more rewarding. My goals included things like spending less time on my phone or finishing a project I’ve been putting off. It does not have to be a big, long-term goal which makes it less scary. I was excited to wake up and set my goals for the day. In turn, this also worked out as a daily planner, because I would schedule my day around those goals.
When we think of journaling, I think a lot of people see it as a morning activity. I actually really liked the nighttime aspect of this journal. Going back and reflecting on things that happened in your day can redirect your focus toward the positives, which leaves the day on a good note.
Overall, I think this was a good investment. I felt my morning routine was elevated and I was in a more positive mood throughout the day. Taking time to step back and realize what I am grateful for made me slow down and cherish each day.
